September 2 Meeting
Lion Dr. Roger Ede spoke on the latest equipment and visual screening procedures for school children that Lions can be doing. He showed eye charts using symbols, stereo charts, and Polaroid glasses. The procedures are for vision screening of children from preschool to 7th grade.
August 19 Meeting
Guest speaker Rich Turbin spoke regarding real estate investor Genshiro Kawamoto at the August 19 meeting of Hawaii Kai Lions. Attorney Turbin was chair and member of Neighborhood Board for 27 years. He talked about the maintenance of Kawamoto's properties in Hawaii and other states and laws that govern property maintenance. Turbin met with Kawamoto and talked to him about keeping his real estate in good condition.

Heart Walk
19 Hawaii Kai Lions were among 300 volunteers helping at the Heart Walk at Kapiolani Park on Saturday morning, August 14, 2010. About 2,400 walkers participated in the Walk. Hawaii Kai Lions packed sandwiches and fruit in bags and distributed the snack lunch and botlled water for the walkers at the finish line.
August 5 Meeting
Dr. J Kuhio Asam, executive director for Lunalilo Home spoke on the Legacy of King William Charles Lunalilo and the history of Lunalilo Home. Also attending was from the Home was Colleen Aeir, Director of community relations. Potential members attending were Rich Turbin, guest of Peggy, and Bill Liu, guest of Mervin.
July 15 Meeting
Program speaker was Senator Gary Hooser, senate majority leader, speaking about Public Advocacy.
Diamond Head Hike
Eight Hawaii Kai Lions joined Zone 2 Lions and assisted the International Youth Camp at their Diamond Head hike on Sunday, July 11, 2010. 19 youths participated in the hike. The Lions provided water, refreshments, and lunch for the youth.

Aloha Party
An Aloha Party was held at Duck Yun Restaurant on Saturday evening, July 10, 2010 in honor of outgoing president Lion Scott Sakata. Members had an opportunity to say their thank you's to Past Prexy Scott.
Benefit Breakfast Fundraiser

Hawaii Kai Lions served 3,615 breakfasts at its annual Benefit Breakfast Fundraiser at Kaiser High School cafeteria on Father's Day, June 20, 2010.
Sight is Beautiful
A $200 check and Certificate of Excellence were presented to the winner for Division I First Place in The State in the kindergarten level. The winner was Logan Lacio, kindergarten. Presenatation was at Kamiloiki Elementary School awards assembly on May 26. Helen Morita represented Hawaii Kai Lions at the assembly.
Kamiloiki School Carnival

Hawaii Kai Lions along with Kaiser High Leos helped serve pizza, spring rolls, hot dogs, and drinks in the cafeteria for the carnival on Thursday, May 6, 2010. They also helped at plant sale table. Start time for set up at 12 noon, ended 6 pm.

Also 14 and 1 advisor from Kaiser High Leos.
Hawaii Foodbank Drive

Six volunteers from Hawaii Kai Lions helped collect cash donations for the Hawaii Foodbank Drive at Koko Marina on Saturday morning, April 17, from 8 am to noon. They were Lions Alex Ho, Scott, Sakata, Rick Yee, Ron Goong, Peggy Oyama and CIS Loyal Mehrhoff. Hawaii Kai Lions worked on the Lunalilo Home Road side of Koko Marina.
