December 2014 President’s Message

Published by Webmaster on

Hello Lions and friends,

Our fiscal year is almost half over, and I’d again like to take this opportunity to thank our hard-working 2014-15 Board, and all the members and CISes of the Hawaii Kai Lions Club! With another successful Hawaii Kai Holiday Parade behind us, I’d like to thank Ken Nishibun’s Parade Committee, and give thanks to the Lions, zone clubs, CISes, and many family members who came out for a fun morning! I give you my heartfelt thanks for being such a great and helpful group!

Looking ahead to December, we have the Lunalilo Home Christmas Party (chaired by Cynthia Chun & Sylvia Nakakura), a Board of Directors meeting (chaired by 2nd Vice- President, Keith Kogachi), and the Holiday Party (chaired by Dennis Ching and Cynthia Chun). I also wish to remind you about the great project on December 20th, helping the military assemble 500 bicycles for distribution to select children at Aloha Stadium, along with a pizza lunch, all sponsored by Papa John’s. Please also bring 5 canned goods for charity that day. There are sign-up sheets online for the aforementioned events.

2015 is going to be an incredibly busy year, with our club calendar already filled up until March! Off the top of my head, some events will include a visit by our Hawaii Lions Foundation Trustee, Selvin Chin-Chance, a UH basketball game, Sight is Beautiful competition judging, a CIS sashimi party, and, of course, the District 50 Convention May 15-16, and the International Convention in the second half of June.

As the calendar year draws to a close and I head home to my family, I’d like to remind you of the importance of family. Please cherish them, as I do my own, and as I cherish you, my Lions ohana. All the best to you for a happy and safe holiday season. May the spirit of the season keep you upbeat, energized, and fulfilled. Enjoy every minute of every day, and don’t have any regrets!

Happy holidays!

Peggy Oyama
2014-15 Hawaii Kai Lions Club President
