Hawaii Kai Lions District 50 - Club Number 14324

Hawaii Kai Holiday Parade

The weather was perfect…the crowds welcoming and plentiful…the marching and vehicular units were outstanding… the parade flowed smoothly; what a wonderful job all one thousand participants and volunteers did in bringing joy and goodwill to the thousands who lined the 1.5 mile parade route!

The outpouring of support from the City and County, the Police Department, volunteers, businesses, churches, and community groups was the reason for the tremendous success of this much anticipated annual (since 1969) community tradition. For the dedicated members of the Lions Clubs, the planning was long, the work sometimes intense, however the smiles on the faces of all the kids and kids at heart makes the effort so worthwhile!

The parade was extra special with the addition of Police Chief Louis Kealoha as our Grand Marshall. Chief Kealoha is the son of Bea Kealoha who is a very close friend of our own Lion Don Keawe. Both Don and Bea joined the Chief in their Grand Marshall convertible.

Our newly elected Mayor of Honolulu, Peter Carlisle, also honored us with his presence in the parade.
