June 2017 President’s Message
Lions, CISs and friends,
As we close out our fiscal year, many thanks go out to the Lions, CISs and friends who made this a successful year. We made an impact on the Hawaii Kai community as we co-sponsored the Hawaii Kai Holiday Parade, held vision and hearing screenings at Hahaione, Kamiloiki and Koko Head Elementary Schools, held vision screenings at the Kuapa pre-school and Hawaii Kai Baptist pre-school, donated to Project Graduation at Kaiser High School, made a monetary donation to the Hawaii Kai Library, helped with the Easter Egg Hunt at the District Park, served a Christmas dinner and brought presents for the Kupunas at Lunalilo Home, sponsored the Boys Scouts Troop 101 and Cub Scouts Pack 101, supported the Friends of Hanauma Bay, the LEOs program and the Miss Hawaii golf tournament by cooking waffle dogs, and more. Outside the Hawaii Kai community, we helped the American Heart Walk, International Youth Camp, eyeglass recovery program, White Cane Awareness, helped our Zone clubs conduct vision and hearing screening for schools in their geographical area, Lions Club International Foundation by naming a Melvin Jones Fellow and the Hawaii Food Bank Drive.
To finish the year, let us continue to sell tickets for our only fundraiser. Whatever we make from the Father’s Day Breakfast is used to fund our activities for the coming year. Let us make this a banner year for our President-Elect Lion Jeanne Alices. We elected Lion Jeanne to lead us next year, therefore we must give her the support she needs so we can have another successful year on the activities and projects the Board of Directors decide on.
Lastly, let us make the effort to be at the Father’s Day Breakfast, both on Saturday the 17th (to prep the cafeteria) and Sunday the 18th (to prepare the breakfast). We need all the manpower we have to put on another great breakfast.
Let us remain involved and focused as we keep the Hawaii Kai Lions Club as one of the best in Hawaii. Keep up the good work.
