2021 Honolulu Marathon w/Troop & Pack 101 – December 12th

Chair: Joel Leo

Date: Sunday, December 12 – from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

Location: Maunalua Bay Aid Station

In 2020, the Honolulu Marathon was canceled due to the pandemic. For 2021 the committee has decided to hold the marathon, so Pack and Troop 101 are back at the water station at Maunalua Bay this year for their main fundraiser, and they have again asked for the Hawaii Kai Lions to assist. As in previous years, we’ll be assisting the Pack and Troop 101 by filling cups with water and Gatorade, as well as passing out filled cups as refreshments for the runners. Please take a look at the sign up sheet, and if you can swing by and volunteer for a bit you’ll receive their thanks as well as a marathon staff t-shirt and hat.

This year, they expect far fewer participants. Normally, approximately 30 thousand would run, walk, or dance their way to the finish line, but they expect 8 to 10 thousand this year. Still, even with lower participation, manning the water station for the marathon will net the scouts enough in donations from the marathon committee to pay for their meeting place for the entire year.
