March 2019 President’s Message

Published by Webmaster on

Aloha Lions, CIS and friends!

It is that time of the year – Father’s Day Breakfast is coming up soon!  We have a “Shout Out” to ALL Members to pick up your Tickets and be on the look-out to Sign-Up for canvassing &/or selling tickets at Safeway and Longs. We would not be so successful if we only sold tickets on Breakfast Day.  Majority of our Ticket Sales are done prior to the event. There will be flyers you can share with our supporters to inform them of how much we do for their Community.

Thank you to Lion Ken Nishibun who each year manages the areas we are to canvas and then gathers and enters the data for the following year.  We will again meet at Burger King to have breakfast prior to canvassing.  Lion Eric Kimura will be reaching out to fill work station positions and having Co-Chairs to shadow the Chairs so the Club has a succession plan.

Mahalo to Lion Alvin Hayashibara who will print our tickets.  Hmm, I wonder what color they will be this year?

Lions that attended District 50’s Hawaii Lions 3rd Cabinet Meeting and Pride and Passion Forum over the President’s Day weekend were in for a treat.  Congratulations to IPP Jeannie for having a Spectacular 2017-2018 year and you, our members, in receiving the Club Excellence Award.  Also, congratulations to Lion Peggy Oyama who was presented with the Contribution of Women Award in Marketing. Lion Peggy set up a table to accept applications and donations for the Walk for Vision coming up on March 9 at Ala Moana Park. and had an overwhelming response!  After all who can say no to Peggy?  Not me… J

There are 15 Lions and family members including Zone Chair Gary Nip and his CIS who will be attending our sister club, Nagoya Joto Lion’s 50th anniversary. HKLC will present an “omiyage” (gift), traditional Hawaiian quilted pillow case to them at their banquet. Our relationship in friendship and Aloha dates back to 1987!

We had a FUN time at the University of HI Wahine Basketball game. It was a Region V Zone 2 event. The Jumbo Tron had images of Lion Stan Ito and CIS Sally who was waving tea leaves high in the air and Lion Peggy in a dance-off against other fans.

Please fill-out the Membership Satisfaction Survey that Jeanne eMailed to everyone and either eMail it back to her or bring it to our General Meeting on March 7.  This is very important to our Club as we strive to build and excel our HKLC to new horizons.  Your Board of Directors have the members interest at heart and want to make it engaging and reach out to our Community as much as possible.

We will be voting for our new Board Members so Please attend our General Meeting.

We have so much to SERVE!

Mahalo,

Lion President Sandy Gomes
