On March 29, 2022, eight Lions participated in the traffic awareness sign waving event coordinated by HPD Officer John Mau at Kamiloiki Elementary School from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.  There were also two additional HPD officers, six Kamiloiki School students, and three City & County Department of Transportation Services employees joining in this activity.  Hundreds of cars passed by during this time period, with several drivers and passengers waving back or honking their horns in acknowledgment.

Lions participating included Cynthia Chun, Ellsworth Fujii, Yolisa Ishibashi, Eric Kimura, John Kratochvil, Marja Leivo, Frances Lum, and Appan Subramanian.

In support of the Community Policing Team of District 7 East Honolulu and Kamiloiki Elementary School, the Hawaii Kai Lions continue to encourage safe driving near our schools and look forward to future beneficial projects with them and other schools within the community.
