Hawaii Kai Lions District 50 - Club Number 14324

October 2016 President’s Message

Published by Webmaster on

Lions, CISs and friends,

We have completed the first quarter of our fiscal year. Thank you Lions for all you have done in the past quarter. Your efforts in the International Youth Camp Diamond Head hike, IYC farewell dinner, Heart Walk, Kapahulu Bon Dance setup, our Open House and the District Recycling Day event is a testament to your commitment to serve our community. As we begin our second quarter, we have started our vision screening and hearing testing projects. We will continue these projects and have received support from the Kaimuki and Koko Head Lions clubs. Let us support Chair Cynthia Chun with the remaining schools in the Hawaii Kai area and support the efforts of the Kaimuki and Koko dens when they schedule the schools in their area.

To the sponsors of potential members Cindy Staples, Dr. Kerry Yoon and Tom Haia, please let them know that they have met all the requirements set forth by Lions Clubs International and if they are available to come to the first meeting in October they will be inducted into our Lions Club at that time. PDG Mervin Wee has agreed to do the induction ceremony.

Our October 20, 2016 meeting will be devoted to the Kaiser Leo Club, which we have sponsored since its inception many years ago. The new Leos will be inducted and the new slate of officers to lead the Leos for the upcoming year will be installed. By the way, this meeting will be held at the Koko Head Elementary School cafeteria, instead of the Kamiloiki Elementary School cafeteria. Kamiloiki representative Lion Delwin Ching reports that the Kamiloiki Elementary School cafeteria was not available this year as it was the last several years.

I have asked Treasurer Eric Kvick to email the proposed budget for the year to the Hawaii Kai Lions members. We will discuss and amend/approve the budget for this fiscal year at the October 6 meeting. No copies of the budget will be provided, so please print your own copy.

Let us remain involved and focused as we prove the Hawaii Kai Lions Club as one of the best in Hawaii. Keep up the good work.

Aloha

Lion Roy Aoki
2016-2017 President
