Hawaii Kai Lions District 50 - Club Number 14324

Presidents Message – April 2011

Published by Webmaster on

Fellow Hawaii Kai Lions:

Wow, what a nice turnout at our last club meeting.  We were honored with the presence of our companions-in-service as well as a nice group of guests.  We haven’t had to bring in extra chairs for a long time.  It reminded me of the “good old days” when we use to always have a room full of members at our meetings.  Let us continue to strive to bring in new members and encourage our affiliates and others to become active again.  Hope we all learned from the speakers to be more careful and to practice safe movements as we advance in age.

We regret that due to the disaster in Japan, our sister club, the Nagoya Joto Lions Club, will not be joining us this year for our annual Charter Celebration events.  We were happy to hear, however, that their members did not suffer any damages.

We welcome our incoming 2011-2012 Board of Directors that will lead us for the coming year.  We can look forward to another exciting year full of projects, social events, fellowship, etc.

There have been many inquiries regarding contributing to LCIF and to the Japan relief efforts.  The Hawaii Kai Lions LCIF Committee is putting together suggestions as to how you may contribute to the Japan relief through your contributions to the Lions Club International Foundation.  LCIF has indicated that contributions to the Japan relief efforts through June 30, 2011, may be credited to eligibility for a Melvin Jones Fellowship.
