Lions, CISs and friends,

Your President has been very busy in the month of August. He attended the Zone Advisory meeting on the 1st, the Hawaii Kai Lions regular meeting on the 4th, the Laura Beeman (coach of the UH Wahine basketball) talk hosted by the Manoa Lions Club on the 10th, the Hawaii Kai Lions Board of Director’s meeting on the 11th, the Heart Walk on the 13th, Pedestrian Awareness Month (holding sign) in front of Kamiloiki Elementary School on the 15th, the Hawaii Kai Lions Open House event at Mariner’s Cove Clubhouse on the 18th, delivered tables to Koko Head Elementary School on the 24th, inducted two new members at the Manoa Lions Club meeting on the 24th, the Hawaii Kai Finance committee meeting on the 25th, and the Bon Dance setup at the Kapahulu Community Center with the Diamond Head Lions Club on the 27th.

Mahalo to Membership Director Cindy Giorgis, who had an excellent presentation at the Open House meeting on the18th of August. It appears that we will have three new members in the near future. Should these potential Lions become members, Membership Director Cindy will arrange an orientation session for the new members.

The first District-wide project will be on September 3, 2016 at Puuhale Elementary School. This is a Going Green recycling project that you can participate in one of two ways. You can sign up to help with this project or donate items. They will accept electronics, such as TVs, cell phones, canned goods for the Food Bank and other recyclables such as beverage containers etc.
Please sign up for the farewell dinner for Lion Peggy Oyama set for September 10, 2016. This will be a pot luck farewell for one of the most active member in our club. Although she has been a member for only eight years, she will be missed as she has done so many things for our club. Peggy has taken on the Presidency, recruited new members, contributed many photos for our bulletin and represented our club in many other ways.

Let us remain involved and focused as we keep the Hawaii Kai Lions Club as one of the best in Hawaii. Keep up the good work.

Aloha

Lion Roy Aoki
2016-2017 President
